I always loved Wayne Thiebaud’s cake paintings. The colors are always so soft, sensual and delicious, if a little sugary. I have always wanted to do some pieces based on his cake “palette”, but the source material for this piece was a actually a photograph of some bolts of silks. When the piece generated I immediately thought of Wayne’s cake paintings.

I still want to do some pieces based on those cakes.
