Electric
Electric
I have always been a big Bowie fan, especially as a teenager. His music spoke to me as a kid growing up in a small town in the industrial north of England. It spoke to me about something beyond the mundane day to day and bleak expectations of my environment.
After his death I was listening to a lot of his music and there is a track on the album Low called Sound and Vision that I love. These lines sprang to mind when I made this piece. They seem to be about forging your own identity in the world and of course, the color blue.
“Blue, Blue, Electric Blue.
That’s the color of my room, where I shall live.
Blue Blue.”
……..
In the Morphology series I am exploring the nature of transition and change through the medium of color and form. The limited palettes and simple forms of this series are an invitation to consider the nature of change. To embrace its inevitability and power and even learn to love and appreciate its many stages.
